Brandi Smith is the November Teacher of the Month! |

Thursday, 13 November 2008 |
Stanwood Elementary second grade teacher Brandi Smith was "still in shock" hours after ten of her students announced to the Stanwood Elementary staff that she had been selected as the November Stanwood-Camano Teacher of the Month.
Mrs. Smith's students described how she believes in every child and made learning fun for them. "She always encouraged us to do math we though we could not do. She believed in us. She was right, we could do it," explained one student. Another student described Mrs. Smith as her "favorite teacher" because she made reading fun and "she made me feel smart even though it was sometimes really hard for me."
The Teacher of the Month award recipient is chosen by a committee of
community members and one school district employee who review
nominations submitted by parents, school employees, students, and
community members. Brandi's nomination described her as having an ability to "meet students where they are both academically and emotionally and bring them along to achieve at a level that seemed out of their grasp." Her nomination continued by saying "she has a way of getting children to believe in themselves and develop a love of learning."

Thursday, 09 October 2008 |
This time of year brings fewer daylight hours and increased safety concerns for students who are walking to and from school or the bus stop in the dark.
Please help us keep our students safe as they travel to and from school by reminding your children of these and other safety rules.
